Job Advertisement: Production technician (Microbiology)
PlantWorks is looking for a diligent individual to join our innovative science team to support our production and R&D activities of biofertiliers.
Although full training will be provided previous laboratory experiences or familiarisation with crop production/plant care industry would be advantageous.
This person will need to be able to communicate in English with competent numeracy skills to follow laboratory instructions. It is necessary for a successful candidate to hold a valid UK driving licence as PlantWorks has another production site in East Malling.
We are seeking an organised individual who likes hands-on work as this role primarily supports the production of naturally occurring plant beneficial microorganisms in both greenhouses and laboratories. A strong team player will thrive within our existing team with different technical backgrounds.

Working hours: Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm, 1h lunch (although flexible hours can be negotiated)

Qualification & Experience: An ideal candidate will have a minimum of A-level in a science subject. Any previous laboratory experience working with microorganisms will be advantageous.
Salary: £17,000 – £19,000 per annum
Type of contract: temporary going to permanent
• Supports the set up and day to day monitoring of microbial cultures in laboratories and greenhouses.
• QA the microbial products and logging products onto the internal systems.
• Assist in the development of new production systems for different microbial cultures.
• Assist in the testing of our products in laboratory as well as pot/field trials.
• Procurement of chemicals and consumables
• Keeping laboratories and greenhouses clean
